Connecting Brisbane with Rarotonga

Brisbane’s first service into Rarotonga has taken to the skies, unlocking a new South Pacific destination for Queenslanders to explore.

The new Jetstar service will operate three times per week aboard a modern, quieter and fuel-efficient A321neo LR aircraft, offering Queenslanders a low-cost, non-stop connection to one of Polynesia’s most popular and picturesque island escapes. Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said the new service to Rarotonga reinforced Brisbane’s position as a key hub to the Pacific Islands.

“Brisbane has long been the gateway to our neighbours in the Pacific, and it’s great to see that continued connectivity with the addition of this new route. Welcoming a new international service is always an exciting milestone, particularly at a time when global conditions continue to challenge aviation,” he said.

“Brisbane continues to gain momentum as a resilient and fast-growing hub, and this new route capitalises on the strong demand for travel by Queenslanders. This new route will give Queenslanders direct access to the Cook Islands and their warm hospitality, tropical climate and vibrant island culture.”

Jetstar Executive Manager Customer and Digital Prue McKenzie said the new service gave customers even more opportunities to enjoy Jetstar’s low fares and expanding network.

“Rarotonga is a stunning destination, and Queenslanders have jumped at the chance to reach this island paradise on this new direct service,” said McKenzie.

“As we continue to grow our international network, we’re focused on delivering even more low-fares and more great experiences, giving customers more chances to take off, for less. We’re excited to work with our partners, including the Cook Islands Government, to bring this beautiful island closer to more Australians.”

The new service will operate three times per week, departing Brisbane on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Brisbane offers the largest network of direct flights to South Pacific destinations in the world, flying to 11 locations, which is vital for supporting tourism, trade, and cultural connections.

Brisbane Airport is now connected to 35 international destinations, welcoming a record 25 million passengers in 2025.
