One of New Zealand’s latest new-build internationally branded hotels, Novotel New Plymouth Hobson, has opened after the $22 million 85-room hotel commenced construction in 2014. The hotel is located in a prime location on the corner of Leach and Hobson streets, a short walk from the town centre.
Novotel New Plymouth Hobson features spacious executive and studio rooms as well as one and two bedroom apartments. Governors Eatery + Bar focuses on regional cuisine to highlight the best of local produce from around the Taranaki region.
Business and conference travelers can take advantage of Novotel’s modern meetings and events facilities, including two rooms which can open up to cater for up to 250 people or be closed off for intimate boardroom events for 10 people. Private on-site parking is available. The hotel offers a fitness centre for guests with a fully equipped gymnasium and sauna.
General manager for Novotel New Plymouth Hobson, Sam Sherer, said the hotel will play a key role in New Plymouth’s tourism economy and attract new visitors to the region.
“The arrival of an internationally recognised hotel to New Plymouth will be a major boost to the local economy not only from a tourism perspective but it has also created more than 50 hospitality job opportunities and construction jobs. Leisure and corporate bookings for the first half of 2016 are already shaping up strong and we expect this demand to continue once Jetstar commence their regional New Plymouth-Auckland services from February.
“We’re really excited to open the hotel and provide international guests to the region with a unique New Zealand experience with the knowledge and comfort of staying in a 4.5 star hotel. We also expect the hotel to stimulate demand for domestic corporate travel given the Novotel brand has been operating in New Zealand for over 20 years and is known for its high-standard of service and facilities.”
Novotel New Plymouth Hobson is the eighth Novotel to open in New Zealand and joins a network of other opportunities located in Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua, Christchurch and Queenstown.
To celebrate the opening, special room rates at Novotel New Plymouth Hobson were offered including breakfast for two and a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Room.
