EDGEWATER FINALIST IN EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Edgewater has been announced as a finalist in the 2017 National Awards for Excellence organised by the Hospitality Association of New Zealand (HAANZ).

Edgewater is one of four finalists in the ‘Best Hotel’ category following completion of a rigorous written submission comprising 12 questions and supported by a 53-page supplementary document.   Phase two of the judging process involves a site visit by a HAANZ ‘mystery shopper’ judge.

General Manager Mike Barton is thrilled that the hotel is one of the finalists in this nation-wide search for New Zealand’s Best Hotel. “Our team have been working incredibly hard to extend our warm southern hospitality and to provide a memorable experience to all of our guests at Edgewater," said Barton.

Business results have also been strong.  For every month since October 2015 occupancy has exceeded the same month in the previous year.

There has been an active programme of refurbishment at the hotel.  All the guest rooms have been revamped within the last two years and the Wineglass Café and Lobby areas were refurbished in September 2016.  Currently, an extension is being added to the Wineglass Café and Pavilion to cater for growing guest numbers and to provide another venue for events.  There is also an on-going programme of bed replacement and the introduction of new washing/dryer machines in suites and apartment rooms.

Edgewater is one of four finalists in the Best Hotel category. The other finalists are; Escape to Picton Boutique Hotel, Jet Park Hotel & Conference Centre Auckland and Pullman Auckland.

The winners will be announced at a formal black tie Lion Awards for Excellence Dinner to be held at Te Papa in Wellington on 19th October.
