HERE’S WHAT KIWIS THINK ABOUT TOURISM

Kantar TNS, on behalf of Tourism Industry Aotearoa, has published its biannual ‘Mood of the Nation’ survey, showing New Zealander’s attitudes towards the tourism industry.

There is an overwhelming consensus on whether tourism is good for the country, with 96 percent of New Zealander’s agreeing that it is. Most New Zealanders think the country attracts the right number of international visitors, although 22 percent of the population believe we attract too many.

The largest perceived benefits of international tourism are economic growth for the regions, growth opportunities for businesses, and employment opportunities for residents. The biggest concerns are all road related, including increased traffic congestion, increased risk of serious road accidents, and a higher number of road accidents.
