InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has unveiled plans to open three new hotels in Melbourne.

IHG has signed a deal to open two hotels in Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall. The plan is to open a 272-room Holiday Inn and a 181-room Hotel Indigo, scheduled for opening in 2022.

Although the hotels will be developed on the same premises, there will be two distinct customer groups, as each hotel chain appeals to significantly different audiences.

The third new is also a Holiday Inn, in the northern suburbs of Coburg, scheduled to open in 2020.

IHG operates 26 hotels in Australia and seven in New Zealand.
