THE HOTEL BRITOMART OPENING 2020

Construction has begun and an opening date has been announced for The Hotel Britomart in downtown Auckland.

Part of the TFE Hotels Collections brand, the project is expected to take about 20 months, giving the hotel a 2020 opening date. It will have 99 rooms across 10 floors.

The construction process involves refurbishing and restoring the adjoining Masonic and Buckland heritage buildings. Cheshire Architects, who have worked on the Britomart Precinct for several years, are designing the building. They decided to give the building a contemporary design, but with a handmade brick exterior to match the surrounding historic buildings. The site was previously occupied by the pop-up bar, The Britomart Country Club.

TFE Hotels will operate the hotel and it will fall under the management of the TFE Hotels Collections brand.

“Britomart is New Zealand’s most sought-after premium lifestyle precinct – all that has been missing is a sophisticated top-tier hotel, its welcoming interiors and warm service offering will allow guests to feel a deep sense of connection, both within the hotel spaces, and also to this special precinct,” said TFE Hotels Chairman Allan Vidor.

Cooper and Company are developing the project as part of the 15-year large-scale renewal of Britomart at the heart of Auckland’s CBD, a partnership with the city’s council.
