InterContinental Hotel Group has announced plans to make its New Zealand Hotel Indigo debut in Auckland, opening in 2021.

The estimated $250 million project will house 225 rooms, as part of a mixed-use development featuring all-day dining and bar facilities, meeting spaces and gym, and stunning views of the city and Auckland‘s iconic harbour. Reaching 41-storeys tall, the upscale hotel and apartments building will join Auckland’s skyline as one of the city’s tallest buildings. IHG signed an agreement with Australasian property development, investment and construction company Ninety Four Feet to open the hotel on the site.

“Hotel Indigo is one of our fastest growing brands globally and, closer to home, Hotel Indigo Auckland will be the fifth signing in Australasia. We’re so excited to open one of the first globally-branded boutique hotels in Auckland, creating a destination for travellers who are looking for a local experience, with the security and amenity of a global brand,” Abhijay Sandilya, senior director of development Australasia said.

Both Sudima and THG have also announced new hotel developments in the Auckland CBD in the past month. Sudima's Auckland CBD hotel is opening in the summer of 2019/2020, and THG's The Hotel Britomart is opening 2020.
