Christchurch Airport has reported a very successful past financial year with a record 6.87 million passengers travelling through.

Total revenue grew 10.8 percent to $236 million. In the past year, the number of international visitors arriving in Christchurch grew 8.5 percent, which is impressive when compared to the national growth rate of 3.9 percent.

“All parts of the business are now showing pleasing commercial maturity in the way we are building our business, enhancing customer journeys and being great kaitiaki focused on safety and sustainability,” said chief executive Malcolm Johns.

“In terms of transit points to and from the South Island, the three key Tasman airport hubs of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane have been gaining more market share than Auckland for the past few years and we saw this continue in FY18.”
