Air New Zealand no longer ranked the best airline in the world

Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines

After being ranked as the best airline in the world for five consecutive years, Air New Zealand has been toppled from its position on AirlineRatings.com by Singapore Airlines.

Air New Zealand, Qantas Airways and Qatar Airways all followed close behind Singapore Airlines who topped the ratings with innovations, products and world-renowned in-flight service.

“In our objective analysis Singapore Airlines came our number one in many of our audit criteria, which is a great performance,” said Geoffrey Thomas, editor-in-chief, AirlineRatings.com.

“One of the standouts in the industry for decades has returned to its best with a new product, new aircraft and new innovative flights such as the Singapore-New York non-stop. Quite simply the airline is the Gold Standard.”

Singapore Airlines has notably launched new aircraft variants like the Airbus A350-900ULR, which flies non-stop between Singapore and New York, and the Boeing 787-10. The airline has also received acclaim for the six suites on the upper deck of the airline’s flagship Airbus A380s which are designed to be like small hotel rooms.
