Space hotel fails to find funding

Plans to launch a space hotel have come to a crash landing.

Orion Span, the company behind the Aurora Station aimed to raise US$2 million in seed funding by January 25, however, the company only managed to make US$235,700 from its potential investors.

The project was expected to take US$65 million (NZD$94 million) to build and promised to welcome guests into space by 2022.

Orion Span marketed itself as a hotel where you could experience life as an astronaut. The plan was to offer 12-day trips on the space station for approximately for $9.5 million.
