A new Quest hotel is making its way to the Hastings city centre.

The 35-room apartment style hotel will be constructed in a vacant building behind the Hawke’s Bay Opera House.

Wallace Development Company Ltd will construct the hotel at an estimated cost of $8 million and will be operated by Quest Apartment Hotels.

“The council has been working to get a hotel into the central city for ten years, and I need to acknowledge the work of previous councils who have helped with this journey,” said Mayor Sandra Hazlehurst.

“This will help increase economic activity and attract leisure and corporate visitors to our district to enjoy our tourism, hospitality and business offerings.”

The hotel is projected to open late 2020 following the Opera House’s reopening.

Quest has had a busy year of openings, with Quest Tauranga due to open in August this year and up to six more set to open in 2020.
