Katie and Zeyn Buksh have taken up managerial roles at Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands.
Having worked with Scenic Hotel Group for almost three years, Katie will now work as the hotel’s general manager and Zeyn as the assistant manager.
“We have a pretty unique proposition up here, and that is offering a welcoming, sub-tropical climate throughout the winter months without having to leave the country,” said Katie Buksh.
“Relationships and community are at the heart of everything, and very much the ethos of the group, so we will be seeking out ways in which we can work more closely with community groups and local environmental initiatives.”
In the future, Katie wants to focus on integrating Northland’s history and Maori culture into the hotel’s products and dining experiences.
“We are steeped up in history here, and storytelling is at the heart of this region, so we look forward to sharing this with our guests in ways that let them take a little something of our region home with them.”
