Completing Your Company’s Tax Return

The due date for most companies to complete their IR4 was 7 July so if you haven’t already, it’s time to get onto it. You can file online anytime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The easiest way to file your IR4 is in myIR secure online services. If you don’t have an account register for one and file your return by visiting www.ird.govt.nz.

Inland Revenue understands that this has been a tough year for a lot of businesses, especially in the hospitality sector. But even if you’re struggling, you still need to file your Companies tax return. If you cannot pay your business taxes on time due to the impacts of COVID-19 they may be able to help. The best thing to do is to get in touch with them as soon as you can.

If you have not traded for more than 12 months, you need to let IRD know by completing a non-active company declaration. You can do this in your myIR account. However, if you traded at any time in the last year – even for just part of it, you still need to file an IR4.

Visit www.ird.govt.nz/IR4 for more information. Remember, file your Companies tax return today.
