TIA Announces New Chief Exec

Tourism Industry Aotearoa has appointed former Tourism New Zealand manager, Rebecca Ingram as its new chief executive. Ingram will take up her new role from March.

She takes over from outgoing chief executive Chris Roberts who announced his resignation in October after more than seven years in the role.

Ingram has spent the past seven years at Tourism New Zealand, where she held various roles including most recently as general manager of New Zealand and government relations.

She has also been responsible for the agency’s public relations and major events team, leading an international team across 14 markets and has more than 15 years experience in marketing and communications.

Tourism Industry Aotearoa chair Gráinne Troute said Ingram’s experience in tourism, government and industry association roles would be valuable in leading the organisation as it works to recover and rebuild the tourism industry.

Troute said as a result of her time with Tourism New Zealand, Ingram was already well-known in the industry.

Ingram said tourism brought vibrancy to towns and cities across the country, and opportunity and financial security to thousands of New Zealanders.

“I am looking forward to joining TIA at this critical time in the industry’s history and playing an active role in the re-emergence of tourism for the benefit of Aotearoa.”

Tourism Industry Aotearoa represents all sectors of New Zealand's tourism industry with members ranging from small and medium businesses to large, publicly listed companies.
