New International Air Link Prepares Tourism for Take-off

New Zealand’s tourism industry is gaining momentum with the announcement of Air New Zealand’s new connection with the United States of America.

Air New Zealand’s new service linking New York with Auckland is set to open the door to a valuable visitor market for New Zealand, said Tourism Industry Aotearoa.

According to Ann-Marie Johnson, Communications Manager, Tourism Industry Aotearoa, the offering of direct flights from the east coast of the United States to New Zealand will help attract travellers from New York and the wider region.

“As our tourism industry starts to recover and rebuild, it will be important to make travel as easy as possible from our major markets. Coming just a week after the announcement that our borders will begin reopening from 13 April, today’s news will be another welcome boost for tourism operators around the country,” said Johnson.

The new Air New Zealand service will start on 17 September, three times a week throughout the year, with its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
