Wyndham Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its portfolio in Australasia with the debut of Microtel by Wyndham Wellington Central, set to open in Wellington, New Zealand, during the second quarter of 2022.

Located on Vivian Street, Microtel by Wyndham Wellington Central will offer easy access to the city’s key attractions. Its location is perfect for business travellers who can expect the convenience of being set in the heart of the city’s central business hub.

The new hotel will leverage Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ global partnership with Oracle Hospitality by adopting Opera Cloud as its Property Management System, which provides a direct two-way interface with Wyndham’s Central Reservation System. Through this, Wyndham Wellington Central plans to embrace key technology enhancements, including an interactive lobby and contactless arrival experiences through mobile check-in and keyless entry. For casual breakfast, lunch, or a drink, guests can enjoy their coffee and pastry, lunchtime snack, or cocktail against the funky backdrop of the hotel’s café and bar, featuring a video wall for entertainment.

As a cultural tribute to Wellington, the hotel’s 81 stylishly appointed, contemporary rooms will boast dark, neutral tones, complete with statement pieces such as distinct Banksy art prints and bold colours to create a vibrant street art influence in each room.

In alignment with Wyndham Green’s sustainability initiatives, Microtel by Wyndham Wellington Central will also feature a recycling programme for in-room amenities and the environmentally-friendly Thankyou toiletries range, known for its organic ingredients.

Microtel by Wyndham is a brand that blends modern design and comfort, focusing on form and function. Its upcoming property adds to Wyndham’s growing portfolio in the Asia Pacific, making it one of the largest global international chains in the region. With Microtel by Wyndham Wellington Central, the company remains on track towards achieving its goal of “2000 hotels by 2025”.

“As borders gradually open up, we are pleased to introduce our Microtel by Wyndham brand into the Australasian market,” said Joon Aun Ooi, President, Asia Pacific, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Microtel by Wyndham Wellington Central will join our growing portfolio of 16 hotels in New Zealand, with many more in the pipeline over the coming years.”

Microtel by Wyndham Wellington Central will be developed in partnership with New Zealand-based developer Stonewood Group and operated by Marsden Group, which currently operates eight Wyndham properties under distinct brands in New Zealand.

“We look forward to working with one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing developers, Stonewood Group, on the development of Microtel by Wyndham Wellington Central, as well as our long-standing management partner Marsden Group, who continue to help us deliver a diverse range of properties across the country,” said Matt Holmes, Vice President of Development, South East Asia and Pacific Rim, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
