JW Marriott Hotel Changsha has made its official debut in Hunan Province, China, marking the continued expansion of JW Marriott, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 hotel brands. Owned by Jianhongda Industrial Group of Hunan, the newest luxury hotel is the first JW Marriott property in Hunan province.

Inspired by principles of mindfulness, JW Marriott Hotel Changsha is an urban haven for sophisticated travellers featuring purposeful design, heartfelt service, and a holistic approach to wellbeing.

“We are thrilled to mark the opening of JW Marriott Hotel Changsha as part of our strategic brand expansion across key cities in central China,” said Bruce Rohr, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott. “For discerning guests, JW Marriott creates immersive experiences through thoughtful design, impeccable service and a commitment to restorative travel and holistic wellbeing.”

Located in one of Changsha’s upscale neighbourhoods and main thoroughfares, JW Marriott Hotel Changsha provides convenient access to commercial, retail and attractions such as Xiang River and Orange Island. The closest metro station is just a five-minute walk away, making travelling around the city and surrounding regions easy. Changsha Huanghua International Airport and Changsha South Railway Station are also approximately a half-hour drive away.

Designed by HBA Singapore, the hotel’s interior blends the traditional aesthetics of the region with lavish contemporary touches. Upon arrival, guests are transported by lift to the 35th-floor Sky Lobby, featuring elements from Changsha’s historic architecture with gentle natural palettes and a quiet design language expressed through simple architectural lines.

JW Marriott Hotel Changsha includes 287 guestrooms, including 14 suites with floor-to-ceiling windows that illuminate the spaces with natural light and offer panoramic views of the historic Xiang River and the city skyline. Guestrooms showcase colour palettes that reflect the natural hues of the Sky Lobby. Pieces of original art adorning the spaces pay homage to the rich heritage and culture of Changsha. For example, abstract paintings in copper and royal blue tones elicit the bold brushstrokes of Chinese calligraphy from the 1,000-year-old Yuelu Academy, one of China’s most prestigious higher education institutions. All guestrooms offer the residential comforts of home and are well-appointed with thoughtful amenities such as state-of-the-art in-room technology, LCD HD TVs and sound insulation systems.

The new luxury oasis is home to diverse culinary experiences across three restaurants and two lounges offering distinctive cuisine of south-central China and the surrounding regions. Signature restaurant Hao Yu serves popular local Xiang dishes and Cantonese cuisine. Ginza Onodera from Tokyo brings Japanese teppanyaki to Changsha. Around-the-clock dining restaurant Yun Kitchen offers local specialities alongside international dishes and live cooking stations. The JW Lounge presents seasonally inspired afternoon tea and crafted beverages on the Sky Lobby level. At the same time, the Executive Lounge also acts as an exclusive space for leisure and business guests to marvel at the picturesque cityscape over bespoke cocktails and a light, healthy menu.

Throughout the hotel, guests are encouraged to embrace the benefits of a holistic approach to living. Fresh herbs and vegetables from the brand’s signature JW Garden, such as mint, rosemary, chilli, and cherry tomato, are incorporated across the hotel’s menus. Meanwhile, The Family by JW program welcomes families travelling with children with a dedicated kids’ space and kids’ menu. On the 33rd floor, there is also a 24-hour fitness centre, an indoor heated pool with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a spa with a vast menu of treatments designed to promote relaxation and rejuvenation of the mind and spirit.

JW Marriott Hotel Changsha showcases dedicated venues for social and business gatherings, including a 650-square-meter pillar-free Grand Ballroom capable of housing up to 500 guests with a 64-square-meter LED screen and an additional 229-square-meter exclusive foyer for receptions and event breakouts. The Sixth Capital Junior Ballroom, a smaller ballroom with simulated soft natural lighting, is perfect for smaller events. A separate VIP room and five multi-functional Meeting Rooms with integrated conferencing technologies provide a highly personalised selection of venues for different occasions.

“As the first JW Marriott hotel in Hunan province, it is our privilege to welcome guests to experience the JW Marriott brand’s principles of mindfulness,” said Doug Ariza, General Manager, JW Marriott Hotel Changsha. “We are committed to providing our guests a destination for them to be present in mind, nourished in body and revitalised in spirit by offering purposeful programs and genuine service.”
