EVENT Appoints General Manager for Arawa Park Hotel

EVENT Hospitality and Entertainment are thrilled to announce the hotel, previously known as Rydges Rotorua, will once again open its doors as Arawa Park Hotel on 1 July, following an extensive refurbishment of the guestrooms and shared spaces.

Guests can expect a quality experience at Arawa Park Hotel, with an entire suite of new beds, mattresses and linen across all guestrooms and a refreshed and welcoming lobby. The name Arawa Park Hotel was gifted in consultation with Te Arawa and is a nod to the hotel's location adjacent to the Arawa Park Racecourse.

Clive Wardle has been appointed by EVENT to take the helm as General Manager at Arawa Park Hotel.

Wardle has worked with the EVENT group for 13 years since joining Rydges Esplanade Resort in Cairns, Queensland, as a concierge. He has worked in several roles, including general manager, at seven locations across New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. Originally from New Zealand, Wardle most recently served as the hotel manager at Rydges Wellington.

Well-known for his attention to detail and management skills during his time at Rydges Hobart, Wardle received the Small Hotel of the Year award.

"I have no doubt that Arawa Park Hotel will be a highly sought-after hotel for those wanting to explore Rotorua under his leadership."

In March, Wardle shared that he was excited to finally return to his homeland and settle in Rotorua with his family. "I am looking forward to leading the Arawa Park team as we open our doors under a new name to the public and international visitors and share with them the wonders of Rotorua."

The Arawa Park Hotel is currently offering 10 percent off one or two-night stays and 15 percent off stays of three nights or longer for booking before 15 September 2022.
