Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) has revealed the New Zealand Tourism Awards 2022 finalists at an online ceremony.

The prestigious Awards recognise and celebrate the success of individuals and businesses in the tourism industry. Winners will be announced at a special in-person Awards dinner on 10 November 2022 in Kirikiriroa Hamilton, following Tourism Summit Aotearoa.

“What has been achieved in the past 12 months is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Rebecca Ingram, TIA Chief Executive. “I congratulate everyone who took the time to enter the Awards, even if they didn’t make it to finalist status. The competition is tough, and I know the judges agonised over their decisions this year.”

According to the Judges, the high quality of this year’s entries was a strong statement of the calibre of the people in the tourism industry.

“Judging these entries was humbling,” said a judging panel member. “All entrants deserve recognition for turning the ship around or keeping it steady in a time of crisis. It’s heart-warming to know the industry is in such good hands.”

There are three awards for individuals and nine that recognise business excellence, industry alignment and organisations living the values of the Tourism Sustainability Commitment.

The most prestigious new award is the Regenerative Tourism Award, which honours a business that has the wellbeing of communities at its core, is representative of New Zealand culture and values, has an excellent visitor experience and is brought to life by a profitable enterprise that shows a high level of social responsibility.
