Park Hyatt Auckland is celebrating Melbourne Cup in style this year with its Melbourne Cup extravaganza! After a couple of years of watching one of the most highly anticipated events on the racing calendar within traffic light restrictions, guests now have a reason to dress to the nines and join the festivities on Auckland’s iconic waterfront.
Hosted in Park Hyatt Auckland’s Living Room, guests can indulge in a beautiful four-course lunch, enjoy live entertainment, sweepstakes and even take part in a glam cam. Putting their most fashionable foot forward, guests can also participate in the catwalk for the Fashion on the Field festivities, with the winner walking away with one of many covetable prizes on offer during the day.
The afternoon will start with chilled glasses of Billecart-Salmon Champagne before lunch. The first course boasts confit duck terrine with stone fruit and toasted brioche, fruit bread with stracciatella and caramelised onions and an incredible savoury doughnut and crayfish salad.
Freshly shucked oysters and salmon tataki follows in the second course, with toasted gnocchi, lamb rump and Korean fried chicken to come in the third. Finally, the delicately sweet balance of the fourth course comes from combinations of strawberry with burnt vanilla and white chocolate, a dark chocolate, salted caramel and coconut creation, and a kaffir lime and lemon salted ganache.
