Le Méridien Ile Maurice has completely reopened following an extensive £60million renovation. Located in Pointe aux Piment in northwest Mauritius on a kilometre of sandy beach, the resort features 261 redesigned guestrooms and suites and an adults-only wing, a world-class spa and fitness centre, three pools, four restaurants and three bars.
The new design draws inspiration from the resort's surrounding tropical landscape, and guests are invited to connect with nature and soak in the panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Using a sympathetic colour palette and natural materials to blend the property with its natural environment seamlessly, the design transformation begins in the lobby, which offers uninterrupted views of the waters and an open-air relaxation area.
The guestrooms are modern and minimal, with a colour palette of creams and blues that seamlessly blend the hotel with its surroundings. Custom headboards are reflective of the rustic materials found in Mauritius, while contemporary bathrooms include large oval baths and a separate shower.
Nirvana, the adults-only wing of the resort, comprises 51 guestrooms with unobstructed ocean views and Prestige Suites complete with private plunge pools, whilst the Royal Suites offer a separate living and dining area and bar.
The resort's new look continues in the Explore Spa, which now houses the first snow room in Mauritius in partnership with Phytomer. In addition, guests can take advantage of a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, plunge pool, five treatment rooms and a fitness suite, a hair salon, relaxation garden and yoga studio.
Dedicated event spaces include one of Mauritius's largest ballrooms, four break-out rooms, and multi-dimensional outdoor spaces for large gatherings and celebrations.
