SkyCity Appoint Interim CEO

Skyciy Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of an interim CEO to replace outgoing chief executive Michael Ahearne, who will step down from the company in early March 2024. Ahearne resigned in October 2023.

The selection process for a new chief executive officer has progressed into an advanced phase. SkyCity Entertainment Group said they would make further announcements regarding the selection in due course.

In the meantime, Callum Mallett will commence as an interim chief executive officer, effective from March 9th. He will remain in this position until a new permanent candidate is selected by the board's selection process.

Mallett has been SkyCity's chief operating officer for New Zealand since 2021. Prior to this he has worked in several departments since first joining the company in 2006.

SkyCity Entertainment Group board chairman, Julian Cook, will provide executive support on a part-time fixed term basis, with effect from the 26th of February 2024, in addition with his existing role.

Once a new chief executive has commenced, it is expected that Cook will cease this executive role. The board has determined that Cook will be considered a non-independent executive chairman through this period.
