Lucky Srivastava first developed a passion for the hospitality industry whilst at school. To her, the industry is vast and diverse, and can provide various career options.

Srivastava described hospitality as an industry for people who can handle a fast-paced environment while remaining focused on guest satisfaction.

“Interacting with guests from all across the world, understanding their needs, and creating the guest experience to build that long-term connection with your guests is what hospitality means to me,” said Srivastava.

After leaving school, Srivastava trained in hospitality in India and achieved her advanced diploma in London and post-graduation qualifications in New Zealand. Her first role was as part of the wait staff for Marriott Hotels in Mumbai and as a banquet supervisor for Jumeirah Hotels in London. Srivastava has also held Air New Zealand, Accor, and IHG roles. One piece of advice Lucky Srivastava said that all managers should consider is never to stop learning from others and always be passionate about work. She said that if she could advise her younger self, she would have set goals accordingly and made the best use of even the smallest opportunities.

Highlights of Srivastava’s career include experiencing different levels of hospitality in different countries. Her passion for work and positive attitude continue to motivate her. Her main influences have stemmed from the beginning of her journey, from her college tutors to her colleagues.
