New Social Impact Roadmap

New Social Impact Roadmap

Following Rosewood Hotel's 2023 sustainability and social impact roadmap announcement, the hotel group has unveiled its new plan to become more carbon-friendly.

The Impact Trailblazers, Rosewood's newest and most significant project, will consist of six properties that will not only uplevel the portfolio's sustainability and social responsibility successes and ambitions but also pave the way for a more sustainable future.

The Impact Trailblazers include Rosewood Hong Kong, Rosewood Baha Mar, Rosewood São Paulo, Rosewood Phnom Penh, Rosewood Mayakoba, and Rosewood Phuket.

Together with their sister properties, these six properties will lead the charge towards creating a future where people and places enrich one another, setting a higher standard for the entire hospitality industry.

"Rosewood Impacts has always been about recognising not only what we should and can be doing now, but also how we can continue to push ourselves towards better solutions for the future," said Mehvesh Mumtaz Ahmed, vice president of Social Impact.

"These six hotels and resorts perfectly embody the direction we are moving in, a direction where delivering positive impact is part of our business DNA. Their transparency and willingness to share their successes and lessons learned will be invaluable to our objective of creating a new reality where luxury and positive impact are synonymous."

In addition to the targets shared by all 48 Rosewood Hotel Group properties, the Impact Trailblazers have committed to achieving at least one of the six stretch goals by 2025. This will strengthen the ever-evolving Impacts roadmap by integrating best practices into its new model.

Focused on the most consequential methods for achieving positive environmental and social impact, the goals are the total elimination of single-use plastics in both the front and back of the house, 100 percent carbon neutrality, 90 percent waste diversion, local sourcing of produce and protein, development of a meaningful and long-term community partnership, and transformation of the hotel's restaurants into a business with purpose.

Central to Rosewood's ethos and brand identity, sustainability and social impact initiatives are not mandated by the core pillars of each property experience.

The Impact Trailblazers' efforts will shape Rosewood Hotel's future, showcasing a newfound commitment to innovation and collaborative learning.
