Newly appointed members to the New Zealand Tourism Board have been welcomed by Minister Louise Upston.
Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston today announced the appointment of five new members, and one reappointment, to the New Zealand Tourism Board.
“I’m pleased to welcome Chris Roberts, Jane Patterson, Jonathan Cameron, Piers Bebbington and Kevin Malloy to the Board,” Upston said.
“They each bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that will strengthen the Board’s efforts to market New Zealand as a visitor destination, maximising the long-term economic benefits to this beautiful country.”
Upston said she was also delighted to reappoint Jacqui Walshe for a further two-year term.
The New Zealand Tourism Board oversees Tourism New Zealand.
“The Board’s work is critical as we drive up international visitor numbers to New Zealand,” she added..
“Tourism is New Zealand’s second largest export and a key part of our plan to grow the economy.”
Chris Roberts, Kevin Malloy and Jacqui Walshe have been appointed for two-year terms. Jane Patterson, Jonathan Cameron and Piers Bebbington have been appointed for three-year terms.
“I’d like to acknowledge outgoing members Steve Chadwick, Jan Hunt, Colleen Neville, Amanda Butler and Kauahi Ngapora for their services to the Board. Thank them for their significant contributions and look forward to working with our new members as they begin their terms.”
Chris Roberts is the former Chief Executive of Tourism Industry Aotearoa. He was Managing Director at Angus & Associates from 2023 to 2025, managing a tourism-focused strategic research agency. He is also a board member of Wellington Zoo Trust and a member of the Tourism Central Otago Destination Advisory Board.
Jane Patterson is an experienced Chief Executive with a commercial focus and expertise in the business of sports. She is currently a board member of Snow Sports NZ. She has experience with major event management, financial and risk management, marketing, and public relations.
Jonathan Cameron is an experienced senior executive, having worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Ernst & Young in corporate finance, strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and investment banking. He has governance experience on the boards of Destination Great Lake Taupō and Dunedin International Airport, and as an independent chair of investment firms. He brings strategic financial capabilities and contemporary experience with airlines and airports, which would be of value to the Board.
Piers Bebbington is a global brand and marketing consultant, focused on driving growth both domestically and internationally, with experience working with brands such as FIFA, UEFA, adidas, Nissan, DHL, Sony, and Spark NZ. He brings contemporary global marketing experience and international marketing and brand development knowledge to support growth initiatives.
Kevin Malloy has strong governance experience and international experience in the media industry, including 20 years’ experience leading StarCom’s Coca-Cola business internationally. He will bring a depth of governance and a knowledge of global marketing and advertising to the Board.
Jacqui Walshe has served one term on the Board and was first appointed in 2022. She has over 25 years of governance and executive experience across New Zealand and Australia. She is currently the CEO/Managing Director of Southern Travel Holdings/The Walshe Group. The company works across inbound and outbound tourism and aviation with offices in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and (formerly) Singapore and Hong Kong. She has practical experience developing and promoting tourism in international aviation markets, and a proven ability to adapt to global changes in the tourism operating environment.
