AUSTRALIA | A historic landmark in Melbourne has seen Lanson Place open its first Australian hotel following an AUD 80 million redevelopment.
Lanson Place Hospitality Management Limited unveiled its inaugural 5-star boutique hotel in Australia, Lanson Place Parliament Gardens, Melbourne. Opened and welcomed guests on Friday, 20th September 2024, the opening marks a significant milestone for the brand, which is renowned for its hotel properties across Asia.
Housed within the historic walls of the former 1901 Salvation Army Printing Works, located on the edge of the city in Albert Street, Melbourne, this transformative AUD 80 million project stands as a beacon of sophistication. This 5-star boutique property features 137 rooms, from hotel rooms to studios, and 1 and 2-bedroom apartments. The property also boasts two exquisite penthouses with panoramic views over Melbourne. Guests can enjoy world-class facilities, including a 20m heated indoor swimming pool and spa, a 24-hour fitness centre, and a signature restaurant, Chronicle 502 Bar & Dining.
Michael Hobson, Chief Executive Officer of Lanson Place, shared his excitement about the launch of Lanson Place in Australia.
“Melbourne has a unique appeal to domestic and international guests, with its sporting and cultural calendar which draws visitors consistently throughout the year. We believe that Lanson Place will be a great fit for these guests, whether they are staying for a weekend getaway or a longer stay for work. We’re looking forward to a long future in Australia,” said Michael Hobson.
Lanson Place Parliament Gardens stands as a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. The hotel's interiors are adorned with 462 commissioned pieces of art and sculpture inspired by the building's storied past. Guests will be greeted as they enter the hotel with a 40-metre ceiling installation, inspired by the native Melaleuca paperbark tree. The layers of the installation peel away like a manuscript, gliding gracefully across the centre of the hotel lobby, linking back to their heritage as the Salvation Army Printing Works.
The hotel’s owner representative, Xiaodan Zhu, echoed this sentiment, recognising the profound significance of the new venture.
"Our investment in Lanson Place Parliament Gardens reflects our unwavering commitment to preserving the city's architectural heritage while introducing a new standard of extended stay and hotel accommodation. We are confident that this landmark project will be the first of many in Australia."
Lanson Place Parliament Gardens has spared no expense to embody a harmonious fusion of timeless grandeur and modern sophistication, to create a home-like experience for travellers.
General Manager, Marcus Packham, agreed.
"Lanson Place Parliament Gardens epitomises more than just accommodation; our goal is to create a true ‘home-away-from-home’ for every guest."
The operator has cultivated a distinguished legacy across Asia, with the Parliament Gardens property marking a significant addition to the brand’s esteemed portfolio. Reinforcing its position as a leading provider of boutique accommodation infused with a family-like service tradition, Lanson Place creates a warm and inviting place with a club-style feel, providing guests with a true sense of belonging.
