Setting a new benchmark for luxury, The Lodge at Craggy Range will allow guests to savour the best of Hawke's Bay cuisine and accommodation.
Craggy Range has announced the opening of The Lodge at Craggy Range, a privately set, luxury lodge within the winery’s Giants Estate in Havelock North. Purpose-designed for deeply immersive food, wine, and hospitality experiences, The Lodge invites guests to savour the heart of Hawke’s Bay in ultimate comfort and style.
Designed by Simon Clarkson Architects, The Lodge has drawn on the estate’s existing architectural language and is thoughtfully positioned within the landscape. The interiors are inspired by the natural textures and tones of the surrounding environment, layering stone, timber and tactile finishes to echo the land itself. Expansive glazing creates a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces, framing the sunrise over the nearby Tukituki River and sunset behind Te Mata Peak. A concealed, compact butler’s kitchen enables the Lodge to host smaller gatherings or up to 150 guests without compromising the intimate aesthetic. Complementary natural materials feature throughout, including a honed Hinuera stone fireplace and river stones sourced from Craggy Range’s Te Muna Estate Vineyard in Martinborough. The interiors are further enriched with select artworks and custom furniture pieces from Craggy Range founders Terry and Mary Peabody’s personal collection.
With interiors spanning 430 square metres, The Lodge features four generously proportioned bedrooms, each with a private ensuite, alongside expansive living and dining spaces designed for both relaxation and entertaining. Interiors open onto beautifully manicured grounds and multiple outdoor dining and entertaining areas, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the surrounding landscape.
“The Lodge represents the next chapter in Craggy Range’s hospitality vision,” said Director and family member, Mary-Jeanne Peabody.
“We wanted to create a place that feels both luxurious and deeply grounded in our land, an experience that can only exist here, shaped by our wines, our gardens and our people.”
Each stay at The Lodge combines refined comfort with considered details to ensure ease and flexibility. Standard inclusions feature daily gourmet breakfast provisions sourced locally, a complimentary Giants Estate Wine Experience, a bottle from the renowned Prestige collection, and daily Lodge servicing, while optional curated additions, such as a private chef or in-room wellness treatments, are available upon request.
Offered as inclusive luxury accommodation packages for groups of up to eight guests across two or four bedrooms, The Lodge provides a premium base for guests to connect and engage with Craggy Range’s defining elements, from its vineyards and biodynamic culinary gardens to its award-winning dining and expressive wines. The knowledgeable on-site Guest Experience team can also curate tailored itineraries, extending the experience beyond the estate with bespoke Hawke’s Bay activities including regenerative tourism at Cape Sanctuary, private tours with Gannet Overland Safari, and e-bike hire.
“We are proud to build on Craggy Range’s luxury accommodation offerings, creating a truly distinctive experience that showcases Hawke’s Bay as a Great Wine Capital, and a world-class destination for food and wine,” said Kristine Kilpatrick, Head of People and Hospitality.
The opening of The Lodge follows the recent launch of The Loft at Craggy Range and builds on the winery’s continued investment in thoughtful, place-led hospitality experiences. Together, these offerings reflect Craggy Range’s long-term vision and commitment to creating meaningful guest experiences that celebrate exceptional wine, considered design, and the natural beauty of the landscape.
