InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is commemorating opening 200 hotels and resorts worldwide under the brand’s name.

The hotel brand partnered with London-based artist Haut de Gamme, who created an intricate art installation from 200 champagne bottles, all individually hand-painted in a style inspired by each hotel.

“Having 200 InterContinental hotels and resorts in stunning, luxury destinations around the world is a milestone for the brand and what better way to celebrate than with a drink synonymous with celebration,” said Tom Rowntree, vice president, Global Luxury Brands.

“Each of these bottles is as unique as each of our luxury hotels and with all 200 together they form a stunning piece of art. Much like art, great luxury hospitality is part science, part experience and part natural flair. We look forward to the InterContinental brand continuing to be a pioneer for luxury travel for many more years to come.”

Artist Alexander Hall, who often goes under the alias Haut de Gamme, designed the bottles to imitate the 200 hotel’s personalities.

“When I first started painting champagne bottles I just wanted it to make people feel something positive. Champagne for me means happiness, joy, celebration and the idea of bringing people together. That’s why I decided to paint on champagne bottles to celebrate the 200 InterContinental hotels,” said Alexander Hall.

“I wanted the bottles to reflect each InterContinental hotel’s unique personality, design and location, as well as the legacy and pioneering spirit of the founder, Juan Trippe. It’s been an honour to be asked to do this project and I hope that when I’m 80, I will be asked to celebrate 400 InterContinental hotels around the world.”
