Travellers’ favourite loyalty programmes awarded

Despite its rocky launch with Bonvoy and ongoing data theft issues, Marriott has won the loyalty programme of the year award for the 12th consecutive year in North America at the Freddie Awards.

“Being recognised so many times by the most frequent travellers is an incredible honour for the Marriott Bonvoy programme,” said David Flueck, senior vice president of global loyalty, Marriott International.

“It helps validate our approach to take the best of what our members loved about our legacy programmes and give them even more.”

On the aviation side of the awards, Southwest Airlines and its Rapid Rewards won programme of the year for the fourth year in a row.

In the Middle East & Asia/Oceania awards, a different story was told. Programme of the Year went to IHG for its IHG Rewards Club, which also picked up awards in the Best Promotion and Best Redemption Ability categories.

Hyatt won the Best Elite Programme award, as it did in the Americas region, and Accor won the Best Customer Service award.

Virgin Australia was the Middle East & Asia/Oceania’s most awarded airline, receiving Programme of the Year and four others.
