New York is home to the most top-rated hotels in the US and two of the top pet-friendly places to stay.
US News & World Report has released its sixth annual top hotel rankings, featuring 2,593 luxury hotels across the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
While Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami Beach were packed with some of the best places to stay, it was New York that led the pack of cities with the highest concentration of ranked hotels in the US, according to the report.
The 210-room Park Hyatt New York topped the list of best hotels in the Big Apple by providing a plethora of perks and high-end amenities.
The rooms are outfitted with natural stone floors, minibars and Nespresso coffeemakers as well as dual-sink bathrooms with separate soaking tubs and rainfall showers and feature built-in TVs in the bathroom mirrors.
The five-star hotel, in the One57 building, opened in 2014 and occupies the first 25 floors of the 90-story luxury tower.
US News ranked the overnight accommodations based on reputation among travel experts, guest reviews and hotel class ratings.
The top-ranked hotel in the US was the Lodge at Sea Island in Georgia, which according to guests is “Southern luxury at its finest.” The resort sits on the southern end of Sea Island, about 85 miles south of Savannah.
The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is the No. 1 Best Hotel in the Caribbean. Rosewood Mayakoba takes the top spot in the Best Hotels in Mexico rankings. For the third year in a row, the Ritz-Carlton, Montreal is the No. 1 Best Hotel in Canada.
But New York also has the distinction of being a destination for on-the-go animal lovers.
Two of the top 12 pet-friendly hotels in the country are in the city, according to US News.
The Greenwich, which ranked third in New York overall, “welcomes all types of pets for no additional charge,” and the Mark, No. 16 on the New York list, “puts guests and their furry friends within walking distance of ample green spaces and walking trails.”
