GRANDYOATS

Real granola GrandyOats is a company committed to living a healthy, natural lifestyle. We talked to marketing guru Tina Burford who shared her granola wisdom with us about moving into a new 100 percent solar powered facility, launching new product Coconola, and making as little impact on the earth as possible.

What is your company background, how did you start the business?

"GrandyOats began in 1979 by two friends in their kitchen in Farmington, Maine in the US. In 1997, Nat Peirce took over and soon brought in a college friend, Aaron Anker, where they based the company out of an old dairy barn in Brownfield, Maine until their recent move to the 100 percent solar powered facility in rural Hiram, Maine."

What are the current product range and variants and how do these products stand out in the market?

"We offer over 40 varieties of granola, roasted nuts, trail mix and hot cereal. All products are made by hand in small batches with organic ingredients and are non-GMO verified. Several products are also gluten free. We never use artificial ingredients or refined sweeteners."

Has there been any recent company news?

"In November 2015, GrandyOats became the first 100 percent solar powered food production facility of its kind in the US. In our new facility, we have a dedicated gluten free section where many of our products are now certified gluten-free. We just recently launched a new gluten free, grain free, paleo friendly product called Coconola which is a coconut chip based granola that is very clean, unique and delicious."

What are the plans for the business moving forward, is there any expansion on the horizon?

"We are excited to continue making the best granola, roasted nuts, trail mix and hot cereal while obtaining sustainable ingredients, and have several new products in the works. We will continue to grow while making as little impact on the earth as possible."Grandy Oats Image 2
