AccorHotels has announced the closure of the Mercure Wellington hotel for a full refurbishment to commence from September. The hotel is expected to re-open in late January 2017 following an investment of $10 million to upgrade the guest rooms and public areas.

“We are now focused on working with clients and guests to relocate existing reservations to other AccorHotels in Wellington during the refurbishment period, and hotel staff will be offered employment at other AccorHotels across the network where possible,” said senior vice president operations, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia, Chris Sedgwick.
