KIWI WINES ON THE UP IN USA

New Zealand wines have experienced rapid growth in the US market over the past twelve months, according to a report by Gomberg Fredrikson. New Zealand wines, especially Sauvignon Blanc, are increasing in popularity in the American market.

“To be third ranking in terms of value in the world’s largest wine market is outstanding, especially given New Zealand produces less than one per cent of the world’s wine,” said Phillip Gregan, CEO of New Zealand Winegrowers.

Despite this significant achievement, New Zealand is still languishing behind the wine powerhouses of France and Italy. While the total value of New Zealand wine imported into the USA was over US$400 million, France and Italy are on US$1589 million and $1960 million respectively.
