TRUMP HOTEL REBRANDED

Panama City’s former Trump Hotel has undergone a rebrand and is now under the management of US hotelier, Marriott International, with the hotel taking the name, JW Marriott. The name change followed a dispute about control that resulted in the eviction of the US president’s family company.

Citing damage to the brand and mismanagement, the dispute began in October last years as the owners made attempts to fire Trump’s company. Refusing to hand the property over, Trump Organisation battled against the proposed termination. The company filed an appeal to Juan Carlos Varela, Panamanian President, to intervene in the ordeal but was overall unsuccessful as an arbitrator declined requests to reinstate Trump’s management team.

“Today is a really exciting day. We are thrilled that the administration of this iconic hotel will be taken on by JW Marriott,” said Miami-based cypriot, Orestes Fintiklis
