New wing at Heritage Collection Waitakere Estate

Heritage Collection Waitakere Estate has been developing a new-build wing for the last year.

After years spent planning and getting resource consents, the new South Wing will officially open on 22 February. The new wing features eight new rooms as well as boasting a new sauna, gym and health spa, as well as a sunny garden terrace. The rooms – like the hotel’s kitchen, bar and reception – were designed by Macintosh Harris.

The 29-hectare property already has refurbished guest rooms, garden apartments, a luxury two-bedroom gatehouse, an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the Waitakere ranges as well as three conference venues for meetings up to 60 delegates.

The hotel's history dates back to 1940 when Captain Nevill-Jackson bought the property and spent three full days cutting a 700-metre-long driveway through the forest to the property's landing. Now his sons Reg and Hugh Nevill-Jackon operate the family business on the estate.

With the resource consents the property has obtained, the family plans on expanding Waitakere Estate further from its new wings, with more upgrades inevitable in the following years.
