The Pier Hotel on Kaikoura’s waterfront is up for sale.
The business has nine upstairs bedrooms with mountain and sea views, as well as a two-bedroom self-contained flat for staff members. The hotel itself includes a kitchen, dining and bar areas that are all modernised to a high standard. The property sits on a 2,428sqm freehold section 2.5km from the Kaikoura town centre.
The Pier Hotel was first built in 1885. The owner, J.W. Goodall built the property to accommodate fishermen and whaler docking in at Kaikoura.
As the fishing trade increased in the area a new wharf was needed. When the wharf moved, so did the Pier Hotel which was cut into pieces and shifted to the new location.
The hotel is for sale through Savills.
