Oakwood announces new hotel in Melbourne

Oakwood has announced it will develop its second Australian property, bringing the brand to Melbourne’s southeast city of Dandenong.

The property will sit atop the Barnes Capital Spectra development, which is set to bring much-needed accommodation to the growing commercial and government hub.

Set to open in 2021, the development will become a landmark in the city’s skyline, as Oakwood Hotel & Apartments Dandenong rises 20 floors above the commercial hub beneath it. The hotel features 98 rooms and apartments and features amenities like gourmet eating experiences, meeting facilities, a fitness centre, and an entertainment area.

“Oakwood is committed to curating an innovative yet mindful lifestyle for our guests. We are privileged to enjoy Barnes Capital’s confidence in our ability to deliver the service excellence they expect for residents of Oakwood Hotel & Apartments Dandenong,” said Dean Schreiber, managing director, Asia Pacific, Oakwood.

Developers Barnes Capital is behind a series of major hotel projects in Australia, including the Holiday Inn also in Dandenong, the Voco Hotel in Yarra Valley and Hyatt Place in Springvale.

“We are confident that Oakwood’s expertise in residential living will not only support the overall precinct’s revitalisation plan but also bring alive Spectra’s vision of a new way of life in a real and very exciting way,” said Martyn Barnes, managing director, Barnes Capital.
