HISTORIC DUNEDIN HOTEL CONVERSION

A heritage-listed building in Dunedin has been given the go-ahead to be converted into a 24-room hotel.

The Allbell Chambers building in Stuart Street has received non-notified consent from Dunedin City Council, negating the need to for resource consent hearings.

The 1909 building is within the lower Stuart Street heritage precinct. The hotel, described in the consent application as a 'high tech, boutique' development, will be consist of 11 rooms on the first floor and 13 on the second.
