A hotel exclusively for female guests has opened on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
The four-star Som Dona hotel is located in the Porto Cristo resort on Mallorca's east coast. The hotel features 39 rooms and caters to female-identifying customers over the age of 14.
The project was announced last year, when Som Hotels president Joan Enric Cappellá said the company saw a gap in the market after the emergence of female-focused services like gyms and co-working spaces exclusively for women.
Som Dona hosts a number of package deals focusing on wellness, fitness, health, and detox retreats, as well as packages aimed at solo female travellers looking to socialise and explore the culture of Mallorca.
A spa offers a range of holistic treatments, and a restaurant offers healthy, sustainable cuisine. According to the website, the interior design was inspired by 'feminine features'.
Most of the employees will be women too. Bookings start from around €100 (NZ$173) a night.
