After two years of exploring the finest afternoon tea experiences across the world, Cape Arid Rooms has opened its doors in the south-eastern wing of COMO The Treasury.
The space features three interconnected rooms with high ceilings, timber-shutter windows, and walls decorated with watercolour and ink paintings by Western Australian artists Alex and Philippa Nikulinsky. The Cape Arid Collection is a series of paintings inspired by the couple's adventures to Cape Arid National park. Inspired by Australia's natural abundance, the rooms invite guests to enjoy a culinary escapade to WA's Cape Arid National Park.
The rooms "change its afternoon tea menu every three months," said COMO The Treasury Hotel Manager Jesse Tibert. But each edition of the menu highlights the finest local producers and ingredients. Bannister Downs Dairy, Honey for Life, and Chestnut Brae Farm are local suppliers for dishes such as the Lime and Mint Delice, Rye Tartlet, and the 'Jarrah' Honey Cheesecake Tartlet. Curated in collaboration with Teassential, the team that delivers you the tea program were trained by Teassential's tea master David Liem. State Buildings Director of Wine, Emma Farrelly, has also chosen a selection of champagnes and wines to complement the afternoon tea menu by COMO The Treasury Executive Chef, Kim Brennan.
Tibert commented that the team focuses on "elevating every individual element" of the tea service. From the tea stand tiers crafted from three rich, local woods to extending the experience beyond the room by supplying complimentary, handcrafted seasonal pastilles given to each guest upon departure.
