The Opening of Hotel JAL City Toyama

Hotel JAL City Toyama

Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co., Ltd., has announced the brand-new opening of its Hotel JAL City Toyama. This will be Okura Nikko Hotels’ first property in Toyama prefecture located in the Chūbu region of Japan.

Hotel JAL City will offer a smart and simple stay experience based on its brand concept, "smart simplicity." It will fulfil customer needs by blending a mix of highly functional services.

Just three minutes away from JR Toyama station, the hotel provides direct travel to and from Nagano and Tokyo via the Hokuriku Shinkansen railway established in 2015. The station also offers easy accessibility to the Toyama International Conference Centre and other commercial amenities in the vicinity via streetcars that circle Toyama City, making the hotel an ideal location for both business and leisure travellers.

Hotel JAL City Toyama will offer 252 guest rooms, each an average of 25 square metres in size, decorated in subtle monochromatic shades. To add a sense of calm and warmth, they will showcase hanging lights in red, the hotel's primary brand colour. The hotel's design is inspired by the concept of “Touch Toyama,” with guest rooms on the top floor filled with pieces that pay homage to Toyama, such as tin tumblers and brass clocks, with local specialty rice crackers presented as a welcome gift. The Japanese-style bathrooms will feature a separate toilet equipped with rain showers and separate bathtubs and showers.

Additionally, high-speed wireless LAN will be available throughout the building, and all guest rooms will include luxurious 4K TVs with mirroring functionality that can connect with smartphones and other smart devices. Bathrooms will feature innovative amenities made from 100 percent plant-based formulations that are gentle on the skin and environmentally sustainable.

Located on the ground floor, a Café Contrail restaurant will offer guests an all-day dining experience with large windows, natural lighting, and an airy atmosphere. The breakfast buffet and special set menus will showcase a diverse range of dishes incorporating local ingredients from Toyama Bay, known as a “natural fishery,” and rich produce grown in the nearby mountains nourished by its famous clear water.

A special “J-Lunch” will be available on weekdays, offering a single Western cuisine dish exclusive to the hotel. On weekends and holidays, a “Contrail Lunch” will feature one main dish and a salad bar made from fresh vegetables from the region. Dinners will include authentic course meals and à la carte dishes to compliment Toyama’s local sake.

Hotel JAL City Toyama will also feature a bar space in the Café Contrail, showcasing a mix of Western liquors, wine, and sake. A “J-Bar” will be fitted with taps offering guests eight different types of Japanese sake and four different types of wine to choose from. Those who purchase a sake cup, small tin cup, or glass in the hotel and keep it in the bar can have the luxury of enjoying a daily free drink from the “J-Bar.”
