Hilton & American Express Welcomes Ukrainian Refugees with Open Arms

Hilton and American Express have partnered up to donate up to one million hotel room nights across Europe to support Ukrainian refugees fleeing the brutal war in their homeland.

The two longstanding partners in the hospitality industry will offer rooms free of charge to relief organisations, such as #HospitalityHelps, to help Ukrainian refugees and the first responders working to support humanitarian efforts across Europe.

“Our hotels have always been part of the fabric of the communities we serve, and we are committed to supporting the places where we live and work,” said Christopher Nassetta, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hilton. “Even in these dark times, we believe the light and warmth of hospitality can make a difference when it matters most, which is why we are welcoming refugees and supporting relief efforts in countries across Europe.”

Together, American Express and Hilton are investing in the donation of the hotel rooms across Hilton’s diverse portfolio of brands and properties.

“More than two million people have fled Ukraine and have had to make the unimaginable decision to leave their homes and all that they knew behind,” said Stephen Squeri, CEO of American Express. “While we can never replace what’s been lost, American Express is honoured to partner with Hilton again to donate one million rooms to refugees and first responders impacted by this devastating war. Our hope is that we can provide some relief during this incredibly challenging time.”

Hilton and American Express’ efforts build on their previous donation of one million hotel room nights all over United States to frontline medical professionals piloting the battle against covid in 2020.
