Trixie Motel | a Drag Queen Oasis

RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel has opened the first and only hotel owned and operated by a world-famous drag queen.

The Trixie Motel lets guests live their pink fantasy, with seven rooms each themed around one of her interests - think pink flamingos to cowgirl chic.

Mattel’s real name is Brian Firkus, but she is professionally known by her drag moniker. Since winning Drag Race, the drag superstar has become a multi-hyphenate talent, releasing certified albums, launching her own cosmetics company, and finding success with shows like UNHhhh and Netflix’s I Like To Watch. Mattel has hundreds of fans checking her out at live shows alongside best drag friend Katya Zamolodchikova.

Located in the heart of Palm Springs, California, the roadside motel takes inspiration from the character of Trixie Mattel, as the drag queen purposefully avoided being ‘millennial’ with a Pinterest-vibe space. Mattel’s drag persona was developed on the feel of 60’s Americana Barbie, and she wanted the motel to be more of an experience than a crash pad.

To bring personality to Palm Springs, Mattel and her team, including designer Dani Dazey, created a motel with a sense of retro flair just as uniquely over-the-top as its owner.

Everything at the motel is one of a kind, bespoke and hand-painted - a strong choice and big gesture for its guests.

Rooms include themes such as Queen of Hearts, Yehaaw Cowgirl, Malibu Barbara, Pink Flamingo, Flower Power, Atomic Bombshell and the Oh Honeymoon Suite. The honeymoon suite may come in handy further down the road, when the motel is available to fully book out for events. Mattel herself is even ordained!

Available to book now, the motel does not officially open until September 2022. However, Mattel’s Discovery+ show about the hotel’s renovation is sure to build a buzz.

Rooms at the Trixie Motel start at US$550 a night, with a minimum two-night stay.
