Hotel Indigo, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts' Luxury & Lifestyle Collection, has extended its offering in New York City with the brand's second opening this year and its fourth property in the city. Just minutes from Flushing Main Street, Hotel Indigo Flushing is the ideal destination, giving instant access to Queens's bustling and vibrant multicultural neighbourhood.
"The opening of Hotel Indigo Flushing is an exciting development for the fast-growing Hotel Indigo portfolio. We strive to make locals proud with each new opening, celebrating the neighbourhood and becoming part of the community. This hotel demonstrates the best of Flushing, both in the design and guest stay, and will provide travellers with an authentic new experience that empowers them to explore," commented Carol Hoeller, Vice President of Global Brand Management for Hotel Indigo.
Managed by Urgo Hotels & Resorts, the 150-room hotel tells the stories of the community's rich past and diverse present, knitting its sights, sounds and flavours into the guest experience and design. Flushing's reputation as a cultural melting pot began centuries ago as the first commercial fruit tree nursery in the United States, cultivated with seeds sourced on trade routes between China, the Middle East and Europe. Presently, the Taiwanese immigrants who first opened businesses decades ago are joined by international newcomers. This storytelling has been combined with organic materials and finishes in the interiors, led by design firm JacksonCreative Group.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a dramatic peach blossom tree art piece and a cascading chandelier resembling raindrops in the atrium-style lobby. Each of Hotel Indigo Flushing's urban guestrooms comprises a grey and soft yellow colour palette and peach blossom murals for an airy organic look while hinting at the neighbourhood's past. King Terrace guestrooms include private terraces and floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of the city skyline.
The Hotel Indigo brand is well-known for its restaurants and bar concepts – lively spaces that lift spirits and create connections through food and drink. Botanica Bar & Lounge is a peaceful dining environment featuring a diverse menu of bespoke cocktails and bites that nod to the neighbourhood's global influences, including Handmade Dim Sum.
"At Hotel Indigo, we believe in creating an experience as unique as the neighbourhood itself," said Kevin Chang, General Manager of Hotel Indigo Flushing. "Distinctive design cues inspired by the local history and surrounding influences give guests a flavour of Flushing before heading off to explore all that the vibrant Borough of Queens has to offer for themselves."
Hotel Indigo Flushing's proximity to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre will also be ideal for tennis enthusiasts travelling to the area for the US Open Tennis Championships, for which IHG Hotels & Resorts is the Official Hotel Sponsor. The hotel also offers quick and easy access to Manhattan, a short distance from the subway and the Long Island Rail Road.
