Miraval Resorts & Spas, an international leader in wellness destinations, is expanding its world-renowned Miraval Life in Balance Spa concept to Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa in Carlsbad, South California, in early 2023.
The union of the Park Hyatt Aviara and Miraval Life in Balance Spa marks the completion of a 60 million dollar resort-wide renovation that encompasses the design of the new Life in Balance Spa, created to awaken the senses and serve as a catalyst for change.
The Miraval Life in Balance Spa at Park Hyatt Aviara delivers a personalised approach to wellbeing, where guests are guided to consciously explore the connection of body, mind, and spirit. The new experience will promote wellness and balance through mindfulness through innovative and cherished Miraval spa treatments and fitness and yoga classes.

The Life in Balance Spa is the heart of the three full-scale Miraval resort and spa destinations in Tucson, Ariz.; Austin, Texas; and Lenox, Mass. The award-winning spa offers an expansive menu of globally inspired treatments and elegant areas designed to soothe and nurture while shifting the guests' attention to the present moment. The offerings are complemented by a daily programme of life-enriching experiences, from wellness counselling, nutrition classes, culinary workshops and outdoor excursions to sound bathing, chakra balancing, and meditation.
Led by Wimberly Interiors, the Miraval Life in Balance Spa at Park Hyatt Aviara will debut a complete refresh of the resort's existing 15,000-square-foot spa. A perfect combination of soothing design and intention-based services will create a space of tranquillity and peace, heightening Park Hyatt Aviara's upscale five-star resort experience.
At Park Hyatt Aviara, the Miraval Life in Balance Spa will be an immersive space where tensions dissipate. Purposefully placed crystals, cairns and mandalas within the spa sanctuary will lend cleansing energy for relaxation and personal reflection, allowing guests to be mindful of their inner journey and let go of daily stresses. The spa will comprise 20 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms where expert spa practitioners perform Miraval signature treatments incorporating innovative and holistic modalities from around the world to help soothe the mind and inspire the soul. The new spa plans also feature specialised treatment rooms, including a spa pool for the acclaimed sensory deprivation treatment, Vasudhara, and a spacious room with hanging yoga silks for the Miraval Life in Balance Spa's unique interpretation of Thai massage, Naga Thai.
In addition to its treatment rooms, other amenities include a fitness centre for signature Miraval exercise classes, a large studio for yoga and meditation classes, a plush lounge for quiet personal reflection and a retail space showcasing best-in-class products. Plans are also underway to integrate select wellness activities and Miraval culinary programming for Park Hyatt Aviara groups looking to interweave mindfulness practices into their retreats. Miraval Life in Balance Spa memberships will be available for community members interested in learning more about the Miraval brand's holistic approach to wellness.
Park Hyatt Aviara's most recent renovation included refreshed guestrooms debuting an understated luxury with a refined residential feel and a contemporary California-casual style; a reimagined lobby entrance capitalising on the stunning ocean views; two new pool experiences, including the Ocean View Pool with private luxury cabanas and the Splash Pool with a waterslide tower and tide pool splash pad; an interactive Topgolf Swing Suite; 80,000 square feet of enhanced indoor and outdoor event spaces; and five distinct culinary and bar experiences.
The Miraval Life in Balance Spa design at Park Hyatt Aviara will balance natural materials and local building methods to build a refined and elemental space. Guests will discover polished finishes and sleek edges softened by worn, distressed materials and natural textures throughout the spa. The result will be an unpretentious contemporary style rooted in Southern California's unique culture and natural environment.
