InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta Completes Property Transformation

HyperFocal: 0

InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta has unveiled the completion of a full-property reimagination, introducing a new chapter of Southern sophistication to this Buckhead retreat.

Following InterContinental Hotels & Resorts' 75th Anniversary, the leading luxury hotel underwent two phases of renovations over the last year.

The first stage was finished in late May 2022 with the reveal of Atlanta's newest culinary hotspot, The Americano, an Italian-inspired steakhouse with an elevated menu, helmed by celebrity chef Scott Conant, offering lunch and dinner; a redesign of the lobby lounge to The Great Hall; the addition of Caffé Americano, where breakfast classics and light morning fare is served; and a remodel of the expansive premier meetings and events space.

Debuting this month, the second and final phase of the reimagination has brought to life a fully transformed hotel with a new 21st-floor InterContinental Club Lounge, Signature Suites and a rebrand of the hotel's spa in partnership with celebrated skincare brand Biologique Recherche. For business and leisure travellers alike, InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta is where Southern sophistication meets international allure - a luxury haven in the heart of Buckhead.

Led by Chicago-based KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group, the full property transformation draws inspiration from the pillars of Atlanta's Southern roots - the state symbols of the peach, honeybee and Cherokee rose - to create a vibrant and warm environment.

Since its November 2004 opening, the transformation marks the first major redesign of InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta. Guests arriving at the hotel can now expect an idyllic scene upon stepping through the entryway and into the revitalised lobby, complete with rose marble floors, hand-blown crystal bespoke ceiling fixtures and large-scale abstract artwork by local mix-media artist Niki Zarrabi.

The second and final phase of the property-wide transformation of InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta included:

InterContinental Club Lounge

Located on the 21st floor, the transformed lounge offers another level of world-class service and details with dedicated Concierge services to assist with every guest's needs. The transformation also includes separate areas created for relaxation, light dining, drinks, and business discussions – including a Club Lounge Boardroom and secluded nook, ideal for private conversations.

Flaunting views of Peachtree Road and Atlanta's skyline, the design of the space contrasts ebony wood flooring against crisp white walls, with eye-catching green accents throughout. Large rugs, inspired by the texturing of natural stone, adorn the floor with garden-like, flowing shapes in shades of green, grey, and charcoal.

The InterContinental Club Lounge experience comprises access to daily culinary presentations with welcome drinks, an American breakfast buffet, all-day snacks and beverages, and evening drinks and canapés from 6 pm to 8 pm. Access to the Club Lounge is included when booking Club Rooms or Suites on the 21st and 22nd floors and is available as an upgrade for standard rooms pending availability.

Signature Suites

Upon entrance, guests will discover a soft palette of crisp whites, touches of warm grey and a signature pop of emerald velvet. Bureaus and bookshelves are finished in a warm taupe lacquer, while a lace-like rug pattern evokes charm. Extending from the lobby, an original floral art piece by Zarrabi decorates the wall above a bespoke luggage bench. In contrast, the Presidential Suite reflects a bolder but refined design with accent metals, wood texture and stone, along with new art, honey-toned finished floors, an upgraded fireplace, and an iron canopy bed that induces a sense of grandeur, all with panoramic views of downtown Atlanta. The Presidential Suite also features a state-of-the-art Mirror workout system with complimentary access to certified trainers and classes.

The Spa

In partnership with Biologique Recherche, The Spa at InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta offers guests a new, enhanced spa experience. As a part of the redesign, The Spa has rolled out immersive packages and treatments that incorporate the brand's revolutionary professional skincare and result-driven products, which are highly concentrated in botanical, marine and biological active ingredients, cold formulated at their laboratory in France. The Spa is linked to the hotel's outdoor saltwater pool and state-of-the-art fitness centre.

A key part of the first phase of the property transformation, The Americano opened on 23 May and has since become one of Atlanta's most coveted culinary hot spots for Buckhead both locals and visitors. Since its spring opening, the restaurant exclusively offered dinner, dessert and bar service, but recently it has announced a lunch programming. In addition to some of the classic items on the dinner menu – such as a selection of high-quality steak options and pasta staples – the lunch menu offers a selection of sandwiches, salads and lighter entrees.
