InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has further provided an update regarding its announcement on 6 September 2022 that parts of the company's technology systems had been subject to unauthorised access disrupting IHG's booking channels and other applications.

Following a period of disruption, by Wednesday, 7 September, IHG had re-activated its booking websites, mobile app, and most of its other booking channels and revenue-generating systems. Subsequently, service at the Reservation and Customer Care call centres and systems have been restored. During the disruption to central systems, IHG-branded properties continued to operate and were able to take reservations directly.

IHG has continued to carry out additional steps as part of its recovery and assurance plans to review and strengthen its security measures. External specialists were hired to investigate the incident; no evidence of unauthorised access to systems stealing guest data has been identified. The criminal activity has also been reported to law enforcement. IHG will continue working closely with its hotels and owners throughout this time.
