Accor Opens Flagship Novotel Hotel in Devonport, Tasmania

As North Tasmania's most anticipated hotel launch for 2022, Novotel Devonport has officially opened its doors.

Perfectly positioned in an unrivalled waterfront location overlooking the Mersey River, the new hotel is just a stone's throw from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal. It offers guests 187 spacious, beautifully appointed accommodation options, including standard, superior, and deluxe guestrooms with a choice of city or river views and a selection of luxurious executive suites.

The interior design is timeless and classic, with a neutral colour scheme inspired by the natural beauty of Tasmania. Warm accents of red and yellow, seen in the leather and fabric upholstery of decorative furniture pieces, add depth and visual interest. Meanwhile, all guestrooms feature an impressive mural of north-west Tasmanian scenery by local photographer Nuala Byrne above the bedhead.

The Lyons Architecture-designed property was conceptualised to act as an iconic horizontal land bridge, visually uniting the Mersey River to the city of Devonport. The hotel floats above its parkland setting as a striking elevated structure propped on sculptural columns.

Mr Good Guy

Debuting alongside the hotel was the Mr Good Guy restaurant and bar, set on its path to becoming Devonport's newest gourmet destination. Diners will experience flavour-filled Southeast Asian street food with a cheeky modern twist, utilising the best of Tasmanian produce.

The hotel also includes 24-hour room service, a 24-hour fitness centre, a meeting room accommodating up to 20 people, and direct access to the paranaple convention centre.

"It is an exciting time for Devonport; the city is on the verge of a tourism boom, with several major infrastructure works underway to revitalise the city," said Sarah Derry, CEO of Accor Pacific. "Novotel Devonport represents one of the most significant tourism investments in the region in years in the bustling coastal city of Devonport. Regional Tasmania holds great appeal for visitors, and the presence of Novotel Devonport will contribute to the region's ability to attract conferences and events. Novotel Devonport is a celebration of innovative interior design, thoughtful detail, and will provide a great culinary experience, caring for guests and the local community."

Novotel has one of the most extensive hotel brand footprints across Australia and New Zealand, with over 40 properties in key metropolitan and leisure destinations. The brand's global reputation for intuitive, contemporary design and rewarding guest experiences will make Novotel Devonport a popular attraction in the city, with quality accommodation offerings despite being a major gateway for tourism and trade.

The bustling coastal city of Devonport is accessible by both land and sea. It is a doorway to Tasmania's scenic northwest region and beyond, with a bounty of fresh produce on its doorstep and plenty to explore right in town.

For travellers arriving into Devonport on the Spirit of Tasmania, Novotel Devonport will act as a marker of the city, sitting with the paranaple convention centre and waterfront parkland as a new gateway to Devonport.

For its first guests, Novotel Devonport is offering an opening special from $269 per night in a Standard King Room, including a two-course dinner for two at Mr Good Guy (food only) and buffet breakfast.
