Now Open: Sawai Man Mahal, Jaipur

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India's largest hospitality company, is expanding its portfolio fo authentic royal palaces with the opening of Sawai Man Mahal—a luxury palace paying tribute to Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II, the last ruler of the princely state of Jaipur.

Sawai Man Mahal draws inspiration from the rich Rajputana heritage and offers the finest traditions of Rajput hospitality. Each of its spacious 51 rooms open into private courtyards laced with lush greenery. The palace's façade is an ode to Amber Fort and features the 187-year-old Golden Gate, Rambagh Palace's original gold gilded lobby entrance. Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II served as the first ambassador to Spain, and the influence is evident in La Mesa, the Spanish-themed all-day-diner and La Terraza, an elegant al-fresco dining choice. Guests can indulge in prized malts at 1835 or head to the library-themed cocktail lounge with books as old as 200 years.

The jewel in the crown of the palace is Maharani Mahal; the gold-accented ballroom overlooks one of the poshest and upscale neighbourhoods of Delhi, Maharani Bagh, and provides the perfect backdrop of the regal splendour reminiscent of a bygone era. Meanwhile, the silver-themed Chandra Mahal and the lavish Sabha Niwas offer a space for more intimate gatherings. The palace also features an outdoor pool, fitness centre and a Jiva Spa for rejuvenation.

With Sawai Man Mahal, IHCL now boasts a portfolio of eight hotels in Jaipur, with two under development.
