Award-winning Resort Completes Renovation Of Meeting Spaces

Royal Palms Resort and Spa, an award-winning luxury resort and part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, has completed a comprehensive $1.4 million renovation of its Mediterranean-inspired indoor meeting spaces. The end of the project marks the next era of meetings, groups and events offerings as the storied resort moves towards its 75th anniversary in 2023.

Located in Pheonix, Arizona, the resort is one of the most sought-after venues for weddings, groups and events in the area, offering more than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. Antique architecture, stone fireplaces, views of the resort's serene gardens and natural light shining through the Mediterranean-arched windows and doors elicit feelings of being somewhere truly story-worthy.

In collaboration with longtime, award-winning partner Bar Napkin Productions and its CEO Haley Balzano, Royal Palms Resort and Spa conceptualised and executed the vision for spaces including the Estrella and Palmera Salons, Cervantes Room and Lounge and Vernadero room, ranging in size from 612 to 2,450 square feet and a capacity of up to 300 guests.

The renovation pays homage to the residential roots of the property, which was originally built in the late 1920s as a private estate for Cunard Steamship executive and financier Delos Cooke and his wife when her health required warmer climates.

Honouring the resort's place in history while integrating modern design elements, the reimagination of its interior events spaces celebrates the surrounding desert landscape to further emphasise the flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Spanish hacienda-style design, the vibrant colour palette showcases soft earth tones, creating a neutral canvas easy for customisation, along with hues of blue and jewel tones for splashes of colour.

Each meeting room is adorned with one-of-a-kind decorative pieces similar to what the Cooke family would have collected to make the spaces feel like a history of found objects. Select interiors have been reconfigured to increase functionality while bespoke window, lighting and wall treatments, enhanced flooring and thoughtful accents of wood and metal bring a refreshed energy to each space.
